Guitar 1, 2 & 3
Guitar 1, 2 and 3 (or G1, G2 and G3 respectively) are the entry-level guitar programs for people who have never played guitar before. Each course lasts 8 weeks, and once you have completed all three you'll be ready to move into the Guitar 4 (G4) recurring group classes.
G1 starts out with "this is called a guitar, and here's how you hold it." From there, we move into how to make and change sounds on the guitar, and explore the basic mechanics of strumming, plucking strings, fretting strings and making chord shapes. We learn fundamental ideas about how to change chords and finish up with a few basic strum songs.
By the end of G1, most students know if they are going to continue with guitar. For those who do...
In G2 and G3, we work on making things a little smoother. Some basic concepts on strumming makes the rhythm aspect considerably more simple and easy. More strum songs are added and you'll learn some finger-style pieces as well. Multiple new aspects are introduced, and at the culmination of G3 you'll have enough information to work out 68 chords.
No kidding - 68.
